Based on the 5,000-year old medical system from India, Ayurveda Mind Body health integrates wellness into every aspect of your life. Whereas Western medicine may only look at the symptoms, Ayurveda looks at health on a deeper level and searches for the root of disease.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Ayurveda works on the principle of balance versus imbalance, when a person is balanced she feels happy, healthy, alert, motivated and vibrant. When a person is out- of-balance, she feels sad, anxious, fatigued or depressed. In life, we are constantly moving in and out of balance, the goal is to bring awareness to these shifts and to move ourselves back into balance before disease has a chance to manifest.
According to Ayurveda, everyone possesses a certain mind body type based on genetic makeup. Once we know our mind body type and learn how to keep it balanced, we gain more control over our health and wellbeing.
WHAT IF IʼM ALREADY ILL?
Ayurveda looks at illness as a deep state of imbalance. If you are under a physicianʼs treatment for an illness, we can assist in teaching you how to live a healthy Ayurvedic lifestyle for your mind body type while maintaining your doctorʼs care. It is strongly advised that you ask your physicianʼs advice when starting any new lifestyle program.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY INITIAL AYURVEDIC LIFESTYLE CONSULTATION?
Chopra Center Vedic Master, Founder of The Ayurvedic Path and author Michelle Fondin, will guide you through your Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultation. Michelle appears on Chopra Center Teachers on Deepak Chopra’s website.
1. HEALTH HISTORY
It is important that your Ayurvedic practitioner knows a lot about you in order to help guide you in the right path. The initial consultation, then, is a complete assessment of your health history, current state of health, current lifestyle and exercise program, your family life, work, environment and goals. Optimal health comes from all aspects of life and this assessment will help determine your mind body type.
2. AYURVEDIC MIND BODY QUESTIONNAIRE
In order to determine your mind body type, we ask you a series of questions based on your entire life. These questions will range from eating and sleeping habits to what happens when you become ill. This questionnaire is used in conjunction with the questions asked during the health history to pinpoint your mind body type.
3. BRIEF EXPLANATION OF YOUR AYURVEDIC MIND BODY TYPE
You will receive an explanation of your mind body type and what it means for you.
4. GOAL SETTING FOR REGAINING AND MAINTAINING BALANCE
Together, we will set goals so you can obtain optimal health. These goals may include learning more about living an Ayurvedic lifestyle, eating for your mind body type, meditation, yoga, exercise or herbs and supplements to maintain health. Goal setting will give you a clearer idea of where you would like to take future consultations or group courses.
WHAT ABOUT FOLLOW UP CONSULTATIONS?
Once weʼve set your goals, we will be ready to integrate them one by one into your healthy lifestyle plan. Learning how to live an Ayurvedic lifestyle and a daily meditation practice are essential to realizing those goals. A SAMPLE PLAN for follow up consultations may look something like this:
